Privacy Policy

TradeMaster (“TradeMaster,” “we,” “us”) builds study tools for contractors preparing for licensing exams. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the TradeMaster iOS application and to www.gettrademaster.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you create your TradeMaster study profile, we collect the information you enter during onboarding:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your contractor trade / specialty
  • Your state of licensure and the specific exam you are preparing for
  • Your target exam date, weekly study availability, and experience level
  • An optional profile photo

Information stored on your device

Your study progress — completed lessons, quiz results, streaks, XP, bookmarks, and similar learning state — is stored locally on your device in the app’s private Documents directory. This data does not leave your device.

Information collected automatically

  • App version, iOS version, and device model — sent with your profile so we can diagnose compatibility issues.
  • Subscription status — managed by Apple’s StoreKit. We receive a signed transaction, not your payment details.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your payment card number, bank account, or Apple ID password.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, calendars, or microphone (except for the optional profile photo you explicitly select).
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate your personalized study plan and show exams relevant to your state and trade.
  • To sync your profile to our servers so you can recover it across reinstalls.
  • To communicate with you about the service, including support replies, subscription receipts, and material changes to these terms.
  • To understand aggregate usage and improve the app (e.g., which trades and states see the most demand).

3. How Your Information Is Stored

Profile data is stored in our managed database provider (Supabase, hosted in the United States). Study progress is stored locally on your device. Subscription entitlements are handled by Apple.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers that operate the app on our behalf (e.g., Supabase for database hosting, Apple for in-app subscription billing). These providers are contractually restricted from using your data for their own purposes.
  • Law enforcement or regulators if we are required to by valid legal process.
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale — your data would remain subject to a policy substantially similar to this one.

5. Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete your profile at any time from within the app under Profile → Settings. “Delete Account” removes your on-device data immediately and flags your server-side profile record for deletion within 30 days.

If you are located in a jurisdiction that grants additional rights (e.g., the EU/UK under GDPR, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may also:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Object to, or restrict, certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@gettrademaster.com. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Children’s Privacy

TradeMaster is intended for adults preparing for professional licensing exams and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data Retention

We keep your profile as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile record is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records related to a subscription).

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — TLS in transit, encryption at rest on managed databases, and role-based access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong Apple ID password and to keep your device software up to date.

9. International Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access TradeMaster from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the app you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect. The “Effective” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
